Anyone who has headphones has encountered the fact that they suddenly stop working. It is never out of the blue. We are always to blame, either directly or indirectly. Here are a few tips to keep your headphones looking their best for as long as possible.
Price
The first deciding factor before purchasing headphones is certainly the price, and with it the quality of the device itself. A rule of thumb is probably that, as with all products and devices, the higher the price, the better the quality. For the classical user, price is surely the deciding factor. More demanding users will decide based on other criteria. For example, the functionality of the headphones (microphone, bass, noise cancellation) and the range of frequencies heard through the headphones. For these users, retailers offer the opportunity to try them on in-store.
Storage
Once you own headphones, it is important to take proper care of them. For wireless headphones, there is no need to worry. Wires can be easily damaged (often at the connectors), which can cause problems with volume and sound quality. Even a malfunction that causes only one side of the headphone to work is unpleasant. Cables and connectors should be kept in as natural a position as possible. That is, don\’t force them tangled, don\’t leave them in tight spaces, and keep cables near the connectors as straight as possible.
While it is unlikely that you will accidentally throw your headphones to the ground and break them, this is one way to irreparably ruin your headphones. In some cases, especially if the headphones are plastic, they can only hold up by sheer force of will. Headphones have an eardrum, which can be easily broken if they hit the ground.
It also depends on the quality of the headphones themselves. Either way, it would be a shame to ruin them.
