Are textbooks really being rewritten?

When you open the textbooks of your children or grandchildren, you may notice that in them there is something completely different from what you were taught. This is also why many people are convinced that these books are constantly being rewritten to accommodate the “proper” of the time. The truth is, of course, that change is happening here. But at the same time we need to recognize that there are also new discoveries that change our existing knowledge. They need to be included in these texts.

Of course, this is not just history. If someone came up with a better way to explain clearly to children, for example, a triad or an equation, sooner or later it will be taken up and broad This is also why, for example, mathematics is taught in a different way than our grandfathers were used to it.

As for history, here the situation is more complicated. For antiquity and the Middle Ages, we rely primarily on archaeological finds, but in fact, we can instantly and completely change what we have assumed so far. An example is the Egyptian Pyramid. People have long thought that they were built with the help of slaves. But then records were discovered from the time of their construction, revealing that they were the majority of skilled workers and architects paid for their work. And it also makes sense – such an important construction of the pyramid, no doubt, the Pharaohs did not entrust unskilled workers.

But the bigger question is modern history, rather, who in it is called the “bad guy”.”This may change depending on the current political situation. But the truth is, there are very few things that are completely good, and there are very few that are completely bad. History, no matter what everyone says to us, is not black and white. And it needs to be seen.

Unfortunately, children perceive the world mostly in black and white, they still can not understand the shades of gray, and even school books have adapted to this. Nevertheless, it would be nice to also include a note about the fact that in virtually every conflict both sides did not exactly “clean”. That\’s what it really is.
